Heart Chakra

Updated: Apr 7, 2018

The 4th chakra is the heart chakra. The Sanskrit name for this chakra is Anahata, meaning unstruck sound (sound made without any 2 things striking. The associated element is air. The associated color is green. The location of this chakra is at the heart and the basic principle of course is love. Chakra 4 is the ceiling of the lower chakras and the root of the upper. The heart chakra is the point of balance between the material and spiritual worlds. The main goal of his chakra is to bring balance to our relationships and to ourselves. If this chakra is deficient, it can bring about indecisiveness, fear of being rejected, and a need for constant assurance. If there is excess energy, one can be demanding, moody or depressed. When the heart chakra is balanced, one becomes out going, compassionate and there is a desire to nurture.

There are several ways to balance your heart chakra. Daily heart chakra meditations are a great start. Since green is the associated color and air is the associated element, spending time outdoors, in nature, will instantly bring about a feeling of calm. Perform random acts of kindness every day for a week. Notice how it makes you feel.
